"College is a Waste of Time"

1. The first pillar is the Thesis statement and that goes with paragraph two. The second pillar is Evidence, and that correlates with paragraph 4. The third pillar is Refutation and that goes with paragraph seven. Last, the fourth pillar is Conclusion, that goes with paragraph 9.

2. Paragraph 2 talks about the thesis statement because it's bringing up an argument stating that college is a waste of a time and we should start doing something else outside of class. Paragraph 4 brings up the fact that college is expensive and is getting even more expensive since it was 30 years ago. Paragraph 7 is more of an opinion, it's saying that "we should encourage young people to consider paths outside of college". Not everyone believes that college is a waste of time. Some argue that we need college in our lives in order to have a good job. Paragraph 9 is basically wrapping on the idea of why the author thinks college is just a waste of money and not only would you get in debt but you could do so many other things instead of wasting time in class.

3. The Arthur is appealing to the audience by saying do they really need college if by the time they graduate they are going to be in debt and broke trying to pay it off. Also, saying that you can become anything you want without going to college. You can start your own business, learn some thing you always wanted to learn and do it without going. Last but not least, stating that while you're sitting in that 55 minute class, you could be potentially learning something else you be successful at.

  1. Great! I didn't get the same answers that you did, but your answers work well too. I agree with your choice for the thesis. However, I got a different conclusion. I chose the second to last statement in paragraph 9 where he said, "We who take our education outside and beyond the classroom understand how actions build a better world."
